Morton's Column, 12-31-36

Arthur Brisbane, famous editor and columnist, died Christmas morning in New York City. Probably the most versatile pen which has flourished in newspaperdom over more than twenty-five years is now stilled. His greatness was centered in his simplicity, both as a man and writer. Because of his simplicity of heart he was able to penetrate deeply beneath the most casual appearances of persons and events, was able to see beauty behind apparent ugliness and truth back of conventionalities. His column will be missed by millions of readers.
